Dear Ruth Asawa SOTA Community:

 

Congratulations to the continuing spring shows last week; Creative Writing Seniors, Theatre Freshmen and Seniors, Vocal Finale and of course our annual Dance Concert. Great work students and staff!

 

Again much love and congratulations to new Ruth Asawa SOTA Principal starting in fall of 2019, our own Ms. Caitlin Boyle.  The future is bright!

 

Thank you to Mr.Hung, Mr.Arnold, Mr.Kwapy and all our parent & student volunteers for hosting a CMEA Festival for large ensemble band & orchestra groups this past weekend.  We had over 20 large ensembles on our campus from San Francisco and the Bay Area.  Congratulations to the SOTA Wind Ensemble, SOTA Concert Strings & SOTA Symphonic Band on their performances.  

 

Much Appreciation to our Rosiest Students of the Month. Thanks to all of the students that work hard to demonstrate our community values every day.

 

A huge thank you to all of the volunteer support for AP Exams as we gave the most AP exams ever in the history of our school. Make up exams start this week.

 

Seal of Biliteracy Award Ceremony, for all seniors graduating as bilingual

When: Thursday May 23rd (12:20pm to 1:10pm)

Where: Room 238 (initially this event was planned in the library, location has switched to the theater classroom)

Who: Senior students earning the medal and teachers/counselors

As a reminder to all students, loitering in neighborhood around campus is not permitted. Students may not sit on neighbors’ steps, sit in driveways or on lawns at any time. Thanks for your support.

We need student feedback to create a better community!  Please take our first ever Inclusive Practices Survey for Students, on Wednesday, May 22 during lunch in Room 106.  All students are welcome who want to provide feedback about how to create an inclusive classroom community for all students, especially for marginalized groups; Students of color, Students with IEPs/504s, LGBTQ, ELLs, immigrants, different religions, women/girls.

 

SFUSD Filipinx Graduation event is May 31, 2019 at 5:30 at Balboa HS. All Filipinix Class of 2019 graduates and their families are invited. RSVP info is here.

The 2018-2019 YEARBOOK is still available for purchase online for $65-. Yearbooks can also be purchased in the main office (cash, check or cc). Yearbooks will be available for pick up at the end of May.  www.asawaSOTAshop.com
